By employing a 55mm to 62mm step-up ring, we've given the iconic Zunow 5cm F1.1 lens a fresh and updated appearance. Interestingly, the original Zunow 5cm F1.1, denoted as type 1, had a filter diameter size of 55mm. The reason for the later revision to a 54.5mm filter diameter remains unclear. It's possible that this change was made simply to make the lens barrel as compact as possible. However, this adjustment has posed challenges for collectors, as the 54.5mm thread size is relatively rare and incompatible with other lenses, resulting in a lack of third-party products that can fit this lens.
The initial pair of photographs showcase the Zunow 5cm F1.1 Type 2 lens attached to a Leica L39 LTM mount, complete with its original metal hood, a rarity that is likely extremely difficult to acquire in today's market. The subsequent set of images in the gallery features the OLJ Type 2 hood paired with a Zunow 5cm F1.1 Type 1 lens (an early version), utilizing a step-up ring measuring 55mm to 62mm.
